We recognize the presence of visitors in the home is important to the wellbeing of residents. The health and safety of residents, families, staff and visitors, however, remains our top priority.
Facilities located in areas of higher community spread of COVID-19 may be subject to additional visitor restrictions per Public Health Unit direction.
All individuals must be actively screened upon entry for symptoms and exposure to COVID-19 and will not be allowed to enter the care community if they do not pass the screening.
All visitors are required to, at minimum, have training and/or be provided with training resources on hand hygiene, physical distancing, and donning and doffing a mask. Additional PPE is required for residents on isolation measures and during suspected/confirmed outbreaks
Visitors will be rapid tested at each visit unless they have proof of rapid test from a previous visit 24 hours or less prior to entering the home. All visits require scheduling and are subject to availability.
Proof of negative COVID-19 swab and verbal attestation to not subsequently testing positive (in outbreak conditions) or completion of the rapid antigen screening test as per current directives and home policy in non-outbreak conditions is required.
Effective March 14,2022 all staff, support workers, student placements, volunteers, caregivers and general care givers are requested to meet the Covid – 19 vaccine doses recommended by Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to meet the “staying up to date” with vaccine requirement.
Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination includes an enhanced vaccine certificate with official QR code or the receipt(s) provided at the time of vaccination. Visitors will show proof of vaccination during the screening process.
Note, if individuals were previously COVID-19 positive, they are exempted from the COVID-19 testing/rapid antigen screening test if under 90 days from the date of the prior COVID-19 infection, but must provide proof of Public Health clearance. When the individual is over 90 days, COVID-19 testing/rapid antigen screening test will resume. Please refer to current PHU guidelines as the number of days may vary. Individuals infected with Covid must show proof of positive PCR or Rapid Antigen Test. Individuals who have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days and are required to be in quarantine are not permitted to enter the community. Individuals who have travelled to any country outside of Canada who are not under federal quarantine will be required to undergo rapid testing x 14 days from date of return regardless of vaccination status.
